Join us and discover the rugged, remote beauty of Scotland’s West Coast. This 5-day open canoe expedition will explore the spectacular lochs, rivers, and rugged coastlines of Knoydart and Moidart—an area often called the UK's last wilderness. This journey is a will test and develop your skill and self-sufficiency, rewarding paddlers with stunning views, pure wild camping, and the profound silence of this classic canoeing destination.

Working in close collaboration with Matt Haydock of Rapid Development, we have crafted a dynamic, condition-led itinerary to maximize your experience in this unique landscape.


  • “UK Wilderness”- Navigate the remote, rugged territory of Knoydart by water— Possibly the most beautiful area of Scotland's West Coast.

  • Dynamic Route Planning- Exact route (coastal lochs, inland lochs, or connecting rivers) decided closer to the date to ensure the best conditions for an enjoyable trip.

  • Wild Camping Immersion- 4 nights of pure, low-impact wild camping on secluded loch shores and remote banks.

  • Expert Guided- Led by highly experienced, canoe guides Ollie Sandeman and Matt Haydock (Rapid Development).

  • Expedition Challenge- Focus on open canoe expedition techniques, managing large wind-swept lochs, understanding tides, camp craft skills.

  • Self-Sufficiency- Expedition-style trip where paddlers are responsible for their own food and personal kit..

The Itinerary

This itinerary is highly flexible. The goal is to use our combined expertise to leverage the terrain and weather to create the most rewarding canoe route possible.

March 23rd (Day 1)Start Location (TBC)- Meet, safety briefing, gear check, and launch. Focus on setting up efficient camp systems and load trimming. Paddle to the first wild camp location.

March 24th–26th (Days 2–4)Knoydart/MoidartFull days of open canoeing, navigation, and portaging. Focus on efficient expedition travel, wind management skills, and teamwork. Wild camping each night.

March 27th (Day 5) Finish Location (TBC)

5 days (4 nights) of expert leadership, guiding, and instruction from Ollie Sandeman and Matt Haydock (Rapid Development).

Comprehensive safety and risk management throughout the expedition.

All necessary group safety and communication equipment.

Open Canoes can be provided upon request (please specify when booking).

Exclusions (Your Responsibility):

Food and Cooking: All personal expedition food and cooking equipment for the duration of the trip.

Personal paddling and camping equipment (drysuit/wet suit, sleeping bag, tent).

Transport to and from the agreed-upon start/finish location.
