Advanced Open Water Canoe Leader & Advanced White Water Canoe Leader

The British Canoeing Advanced Canoe Leader award has now been split into Open Water Canoe Leader and Whitewater Canoe Leader Awards.

These awards are for those looking to lead others in an advanced water environment.

Advanced Open Water Canoe Leader is appropriate for those wanting to lead others on large areas of open water that exceed the moderate water definition, where the paddlers are potentially more than 500 metres off shore and in wind strengths that exceed Beaufort force 4.

Advanced Whitewater Canoe Leader is appropriate for those wanting to lead others on journeys on grade 3(4) white water or equivalent weirs.

Our Comprehensive Training Course (5 days)

This will include both open water and whitewater training.

This course will be delivered by Ollie Sandeman.

A 5 day course resulting in a clear understanding of the awards and where you are on your road to assessment.

We’ll ensure you are best prepared for an assessment by taking an in depth look at the course syllabus and the level required at assessment.

Over the week you’ll receive coaching to progress your personal paddling ability whilst taking a thorough look at the leadership principles and safety and rescue techniques required to lead at this level.

Advanced Open Water canoe Leader Training (2days)

A 2 day course where we’ll progress your personal paddling ability in this environment whilst taking a thorough look at leadership strategies, safety and rescue techniques required at this level.

At the end of the two days you’ll leave with an action plan to help you on your pathway to your assessment.
